Who Should Take This Course
We discuss this more in Lesson 1, but this course is designed for staff and volunteers at churches who have adopted the Model Local Church Safe Sanctuaries Policy, and specifically the 2025 revision of the Model Policy. It can also be used as an introductory course for churches that have adapted the Model Policy for their context, with church-specific training provided directly by the church.

How This Course is Designed
This course includes several lessons divided into modules. Each lesson includes a video, additional resources, and a brief quiz based on the video and the resources in the lesson. You must watch the entire video prior to taking the quiz.
In order to complete the lesson, you must score at least 80% on the quiz. You can take the quiz as many times as needed to achieve a passing score.
The course is asynchronous and self-paced, meaning you can stop and start it as often as you’d like and take as long as needed to complete it.
How Long This Course Will Take
If completed in one sitting, this course is estimated to take between 60 and 90 minutes, including watching all videos and completing all quizzes. However, you are free to stop and start at your own pace, and your progress will be saved as long as you are logged in.

Going Further
This course is the “core” Safe Sanctuaries course that will prepare you to work with minors. However, there are additional courses you are encouraged to take to strengthen your preparedness to serve in this important role, and which may be required by your church depending on your specific role.
